Wedding Wednesday Vol. 10 Choosing the Perfect Wedding Colors

Wedding Wednesday Vol. 10
How we used WeddingWire to find the perfect wedding colors for our Big Day

Happy Wednesday and welcome back to another instalment of Wedding Wednesday with WeddingWire. Ya'll know I love being able to work with them and how excited we've been through this whole process.
Today post is a little different; but today I'm talking all about the colors we chose for our big day. When Nick and I started discussing wedding colors, it was important to us to choose colors that really represented us as a couple. I love being edgy with some romantic flair and Nick tends to love a blue-grey palate. When we decided on our colors Nick was all for "whatever made me happy" as long as we had Navy.
Finding a color scheme that fit us both was super difficult, but I'm so glad that WeddingWire has an amazing wedding color quiz so you know we took that! It was super easy and who knew we would have some colors just like that!
We took into consideration our venue (more on our venue as I can't wait to talk to you all about that) the time of year, and the aesthetic and “feel” we wanted our wedding to have. After deciding on the colors, we’re both very pleased with how they will fit into our wedding day.

#ToastingTerranovas Wedding Colors

Smoke Green | Accent Color:
As I was looking through wedding websites and after taking the WeddingWire color palette quiz, I found that I was drawn to weddings that had a lot of greenery, whether it was in the bride’s bouquet or used as centerpieces throughout the reception. This smokey green hue will be mainly used with our flowers, centerpieces and as accents on chairs, etc.
Oxbloog (Maroon) | Main Color:
I was immediately sold on this Pantone color because it's been one of my favorite colors for a long time. I like the richness it gives and it's a universally flattering color. Since our wedding is in the fall, I/we thought this hue would be a great main color.
Mimosa | Accent Color & Main Color:
This mustardy yellow color not only sold me on the shade but also the name! I love Mimosas and brunch is my jam so this unique and contrasting color HAD to make it into our palate. I can't wait to show you the ways I plan on using this unique color on our day.
Pearled Ivory | Accent Color:
I felt that the other colors were so bold and we knew we needed something to add a soft touch to the day. The color will add a romantic touch to the evening, and will be the perfect soft color to balance the warm/harsh tones.
Navy | Main Color:
Nick who is my neutral lover, Navy had to make it into our wedding day! We plan on incorporating this perfect Navy a ton throughout our day! Think groomsmen suits, ties and some other special touches.

Below is a little wedding inspiration board that I put together. Seeing both of these allows me to stay focused and make decor decisions that align with the aesthetic that we’re going for on our wedding day.
Wedding colors set the tone for your entire wedding. From save the dates to reception details, choosing your wedding colors early on is really important. No matter what color scheme you pick it will be just perfect for you and your fiance on your BIG DAY!

  1. These colors are all so pretty- I love that they're not too terribly in-your-face, but also aren't going to fade into the background. Lovely!

    Le Stylo Rouge

    1. I was trying to find a good balance between the earth and unique!

  2. Ohh that's so interesting and handy! Glad it only took my husband and I a second to agree on our colors though. Lol

  3. Such pretty colors and tips! Thanks for sharing!

  4. I picked orange for my wedding color, but I don't know why since it's not a color that I particular love!! Probably because I knew that I couldn't choose pink and I wanted something that was ok for my husband too! xx

    1. What shade or orange like pumpkin or coral? Either way I almost picked it too!

  5. These are great suggestions!

  6. Choosing the colour scheme for your wedding must be so much fun, as it's kind of central to (nearly!) every single aspect of the special day. Such a lovely post, thanks for sharing :) Hope you're having a lovely week! x
