Wedding Wednesday VOL. 4

Wedding Wednesday Vol. 4
All about the Ring
Happy Wednesday Babes! Of course its Wednesday so it's time for another round of Wedding Wednesday. This post is super special and very close to my heart. This post is all about the RING!

Before we even got engaged we went ring shopping, it was something we talked a lot about and I wrestled with the idea. I don't think many people quite understand the roller coaster of emotions a person goes through while shopping for and picking out an engagement ring. If you think you should or shouldn't, I can tell you that it is something you should highly consider. Especially if you really think you really want a certain shape, it may not feel right once it's on your finger. Going and trying rings on is never a bad idea trust me on this one :)

I really wanted my fiancé to pick it out the ring all on his own, and then I finally decided that I did really want a say in it. I realized that I wanted something very unique which would prove difficult for him. He's not a mind reader! I knew for over a long time that I never wanted a diamond, speaking of diamonds, that was something very important to Nick so we compromised. After going ring shopping we didn't discuss it again for some time, which I highly recommend because it was nice to just dream. When we did talk about it again,  I told him how I wanted a morganite with rose gold, and that he could do the rest.

He did such a great job. I'm still obsessed xo

All about the ring from the Fiancé

I spent most of my ring shopping in the city of Chicago, going to various hot spots and Jewelers Row. Needless to say the prices were overwhelming, I remembered that a friend from high school had started a custom jewelry business called Sweet Custom Jewelry. I did a little bit of research and was extremely impressed on the reviews they were getting from around the city of Lansing, MI.

Going custom always doesn't mean more expensive, especially if you are going to get it done with a jeweler you know and trust. The prices at Sweet Custom Jewelry were on point and I decided to put my faith in them to come up with the perfect ring based on what I knew my fiancé would like. They got the ring done in half the time they had anticipated and the ring was more beautiful than I had ever imagined. There is no way my experience could have been any better. Making the engagement happen in a perfect way. You can read about our engagement story here.

Shopping small is always a huge deal to my fiancé. Yes, she loves a good deal but she would rather spend more money on the same thing if she can support a small business and stay local. I reached out to Sweet Custom Jewelry, and they were more than accommodating to my schedule being that I had to travel from Chicago to look at rings. They went out of there way to open up there shop on a day they were usually closed and that went a long way. It makes that day a little more special knowing friends actually had a hand in making the ring.

As the planning continues there are a bunch of things we want to keep to ourselves as we plan our wedding (because it’s such a personal process and because we want to leave a few surprises for our guests!). A few of the many things I’m excited to talk about in the many months to come; our engagement party (to have one or not to have one? I'll get back to you), the cute way we plan on asking our wedding party, dress options for various wedding-related events, cool vendors I discover online, and whatever else comes up as we go along! As always, if there’s anything you’re particularly interested in, I’m all ears! You can follow along here and as well on my WeddingWire dashboard
