Wedding Wednesday VOL. 1 : I'm Engaged!

Wedding Wednesday Vol 1.
Our Engagement Story

Hey Babes! Happy Wednesday hope you all are enjoying the week.
I know I've been MIA for awhile but for good reason. I like to take my summers off and just enjoy the wonderfulness of summer. Chicago summers are the best and I always like to make sure I can live it up. From the festivals to the rooftops I make sure to keep my summers jam packed.

I didn't know how to start this blog post, or even if I wanted to do these series.  After talking to a few of my favorites babes, I realized that joyous times don't come around often. When they do we MUST celebrate them, so I’m excited to bring this new element to The Petite Diaries. So settle in and enjoy the long read!

Back Story

I have been dating Nick my now fiancĂ© for just under 4 years. We celebrate 4 years September 1st! It's crazy to think 4 years ago I went up to him in a crowded bar, and tried my best to smooth talk him. Well I won him over and well the rest is history. It's been a fun roller coaster and it isn't even over yet!

Nick and I had a wedding to attend Saturday July 1st, so we decided to make a whole trip out of it.  The wedding was all the way in Traverse City, MI. If you have never been I highly recommend making the road trip- you won't be disappointed! The drive alone will take your breath away. From the lake views to the rolling hills Michigan sure is magical.

The Proposal

07-02-17 will always have a special place in my heart.
It was Sunday and we had a great day planned, we had a couple that we are close with meet us for the day.  The town had a fest going on and if you know me then you know I love a good fest! The Cherry Fest didn't disappoint at all; think good small town food, fun and shops. Michigan has a very different pace than I am used to in Chicago, but in a good way.
It was a great way to be unplugged and enjoy the time and company I was with.  After hitting a few shops and having a few drinks and some more shopping, we had reservations to go to Chateau ChantalThe winery with one of the most beautiful views ever, I took way too many pictures :) After a few flights of wine we decided to go and take some more pictures and walk the vineyards! While walking one that is when we stopped to take a picture, and he knelt down on knee and asked me to spend forever with him.

Words can not describe the type of feeling you have when you get engaged. I didn't really believe what was happening at first, and then the tears started and I couldn't stop them.
I of course said YES! I am forever grateful that it was captured on film and video, I can still look at those photos and cry.

Now What

For the next 90 days Nick and I plan on enjoy being engaged. It's a really special time for us, we both decided to enjoy being engaged and celebrate as much as we can. Once the planning starts I'll be posting all about that, just not ready for all the stress just yet!

So tell me is July the month of love? So many people I know got engaged over 4th of July week!

  1. I think you're smart to enjoy engagement for a couple of months before going into wedding planning mode. I'm so happy for you two!

  2. So, SO happy for you, lady! :)
